Endorsement: Coby Owens for Wilmington’s 1st City Council District

College Democrats at the University of Delaware is proud to endorse Coby Owens for Wilmington’s 1st City Council District!

Coby has spent his life residing in this district, and we have complete faith that he will be a wonderful Councilman. He has been engaging with his neighbors nonstop, even before he was a candidate for office. Coby also helped organize a major protest in Wilmington after George Floyd was killed by police.

Besides Coby’s activism, he was also a co-founder and CEO of the Youth Caucus of America, a youth-led nonpartisan nonprofit organization that served to elevate the voices of young people in politics by empowering young professionals to make an impact through civic engagement. Coby also played a role in drafting policy for Julían Castro’s presidential campaign, which often highlighted disparities and inequalities in our criminal justice system and housing policies.

Our members have personally seen Coby on the front lines both in Dover and Washington D.C. We believe that Coby has the vision to move Wilmington forward, and he will use his experience in activism to lift up the residents of his district.

We ask that if you reside in Wilmington’s 1st City Council District, to vote for Coby Owens by September 15th, in whatever way you feel is the most safe.
